Dear Yuer! It's been a long time since I last updated this diary for you. You've grown a lot and too many things have happened to list everything. You're now two days away from turning 11 months old.
You learned how to stand unassisted one month ago, and you've been walking by holding on to furniture since you were about 9 months old. You're very mobile, and love to explore. You can climb stairs on your own quite well, but going down is still a problem.

You don't really talk much yet, but there is one word you know really well: "Xie zi" It's Chinese and means shoes. You absolutely love shoes as much as your brother Fei loves cars.
We can't leave shoes on the floor anywhere, as you will see them even from a distance and rocket off as fast as you can to check them out closer. Unfortunately this checking process usually involves tasting, and in any case tends to get your hands dirty.

Perhaps someone who loves shoes can explain to me the affection, but I am quite puzzled by this love. I can sort of understand Fei's fascination with cars, but shoes… must be a girl thing.
Even though you're a girl, you are learning to be tough. Fei doesn't always treat you very nicely. Sometimes he keeps pushing you down when you try to walk, or takes a toy from your hand when you're trying to play. Sometimes he just wants to get attention, and sometimes he is actually trying to protect you. He might say "Yuer, don't eat that!" when he takes the toy away… he has obviously seen we sometimes take objects away from you as you tend to eat everything you get to your hands.

With a big brother like Fei, you don't really cry if you fall down or if he takes away your toy, but you've also learned to defend yourself. Once I saw Fei was trying to take a spoon from you when you were eating and you responded by pushing him so hard he fell down and started crying. Kind of ironic, but even though Fei bullies you now, he actually cries really easily if things don't go the way he wants. I know when you grow up a little you will easily be the boss...
You're a happy little girl who likes to eat a lot of food and learn new things. It's hard to get you to fall asleep as you'd just rather keep playing. In the morning you are my personal alarm - every morning exactly at 7AM you wake up and call for daddy.

You like to take good care of me. When you're eating a cookie you like to give me a bite of it. You like to brush my hair, put a hat on my head and sunglasses on my face! Pretty soon you're one year old already. Amazing how fast the time goes!
