2008-05-11 - Almost healthy
I've been silent for a long time.

First I was very busy during the 1st of May Celebrations ("Vappu") and then I was suddenly affected by the flu. Fever, resting, tee, vitamins, doctor, medicines... That's what my last week's been all about Not that fancy so I thought I'd just better keep away from writing a blog and boring everyone with my problems.

Now I feel a great deal better so I decided to refresh my stuff here a bit

First I really wanted to put up a pic of my bicycle here:

Well, that's the only one I have of it...can't see much of it right? But you can see just enough to agree with me that it's a nice one I couldn't ride with it now for a week, being ill. But well, next week I can start again when I won't have a sore throat anymore!

Then 1st of May was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it! All the people on the streets of Helsinki celebrating the spring, LOL

2008-04-28 - Bicycle, bicycle! I want to ride my...
One of my dearest friends is moving back to Hungary so she left Finland today. I'm gonna miss her so much I hope she will be able to visit me during the summer. Well, if not, I'll see her in the fall!

So yesterday after work I dropped by at her place to wish her a good trip and to take my "inheritance": her bicycle. It's a pretty old one, so she wouldn't even try to sell it but thougth of giving it to me. She knew I had some problems with the one I used (borrowed from my relatives) during last summer: apparently my back wasn't used to that type of competition-bike on which you have to bend quite low, so my back was a bit sore all the time. Now I'm happy I have my own bike and this type suits me perfectly

Now I won't buy a busticket for May cause I can get anywhere with the bare energy of my feet whirling the wheels of the bike, lol That's ecological and healthy, a very positive thing in my life now.

2008-04-24 - A true everlasting journey indeed
Wonderlust King by the great-great Gogol Bordello!!! Note Budapest on the map, the city I was born in

I think this video fits my blog title very well

By the way if you haven't been to a live Gogol Bordello gig I really recommend it! The one I was at in Helsinki (Tavastia) in December 2007 has been so far my best concert experience.

2008-04-23 - Music
Check out the Last Shadow Puppets:

Standing next to me:

You want to have her
Two years have gone now
But I can't relate to the never ending games that you play
As desire passes through and you're open to the truth
I hope you understand
And your love is standing next to me
Is standing next to me

The one you fell for
But it's seemed you deny
And you laugh at yourself again and again
But as you drink to the thoughts she'll remember you
maybe tomorrow

And your love is standing next to me
Is standing next to me
And your love is standing next to me
Is standing next to me, is standing next to me.
Is standing next to me...

The Age of the Understatement:

Decided
To sneak up away
From your stomach
And try your pulse
And captured
What seemed all
Unknowing and candid
But they suspected
It was false

She’s playful
The boring would
Warn you be careful
Of her brigade
In order to tame
This relentless marauder
Move away from the parade

And she was walking on the tables
In the glass house
Endearingly bedraggled in the wind
Subtle in her method of seduction
The twenty little tragedies begin

And she would throw
A feather boa in the road
If she thought
That it would set the scene
Unfittingly dipped
Into your companions
Enlighten them to make you see

And there’s affection to rent
The age of the understatement
Before the attraction ferments
Kiss me properly and pull me apart...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgrRbYnVuvo

My mistakes were made for you:
As subtle as an earthquake I know,
My mistakes were made for you.
And in the back-room of a bad dream she came,
And whisked me away, enthused
And it's as solid as a rock, rolling down a hill
The fact is that it probably will, hit something
On the hazardous terrain
And we're just following the flock, round and in-between
Before we're smashed to smithereens, like they were
And we scrambled from the blame
and it's the fame that put words in her mouth, she couldn't help but spit them out.
Innocence and arrogance intwined
In the filthiest of minds
She was spitting on her birthday, and now
A face in the crowd, she's not
I suspect that now forever, the shape, she came to escape
Is forgot.
And it's a lot to ask her not to sting, and give her less than everything
Around your guilty conscience she will wind
And we're just following the flock, round and in-between
Before we're smashed to smithereens, like they were
And we scrambled from the blame
and it's the fame that put words in her mouth, she couldn't help but spit them out,
Around your guilty conscience she will wind.
And it's a lot to ask her not to sting, and give her less than everything,
Innocence and arrogance intwined

2008-04-14 - lyrics to listen to
"It's just another one of those glory days
Jump out your bed
Shake your head
Clear the haze
Step out your house
And prepared to be amazed
It's just another one of those
Just another one of those
Just another one of those glory days
Jump out your bed
Shake your head
Clear the haze
Step out your house
And prepare to be amazed
It's just another one of those glory days

I'm so warm
New dawn
Reborn
New forms
And I'm thinking about my boys
Joe le chic, and Freshly Sean
And I know you're underrated
But one day we'll all make it
And walk around naked with our bollocks platinumed and plated
Anyway I'm off track
Gotta stop that

And get back to the high street
I need something to eat
Stop at the caf'
Coffee and a salt beef bagel
Yea I know I'm caned/Cain'd
But now I'm feeling able/Abel
I used to get so paranoid in places like this
Stayed in my house for days with my weed psychosis
My neurosis was thinking everybody is staring at my red eyes
And shifty expression
But now I'm past caring
And I can feel that destiny is on my side
And by the looks of things
Fate came along for the ride
Behind green skies I can see my girl's eyes
Damn it I'm in love with this planet
You gotta realize

It's just another one of those glory days
Jump out your bed
Shake your head
Clear the haze
Step out your house
And prepared to be amazed
It's just another one of those
Just another one of those
Just another one of those glory days
Jump out your bed
Shake your head
Clear the haze
Step out your house
And prepare to be amazed
It's Just another one of thos glory days"

2008-04-13 - After a long silence: Tartu trip, concerts, films, trainings...
Wow, now I should remember when and about what I wrote the last time ... During the past week whenever I had a chance to come up to Xiha Life, I made the Hungarian translations but I simply had no time to write my blogs.

It was before my trip to Tartu -Estonia-  though when I last time wrote here, so I should start to revise my past week by telling about that! It was a lot of fun and new experiences, as traveling tends to be I've put up some pics also, check them out if you are interested. Here are some appetizers that I think I didn't upload yet.

The main square called Raekoja plats:

A funny kind-of "vallattu talo" = "occupied house" in one of the suburbs:

Nice contrast between the scenes, right? Tartu is a many-sided and intresting city indeed!
I spent there 3 days with my friends and I decided, that if I'll have the time during my university studies, I will go there for an exchange.
Apparently the place had a huge influence on me...

Well then I got back to Finland on Sunday night and went staigth to the Orion cinema to watch a Roumanian film, Terminus Paradise. I bumped into a friend accidentaly there and we watched the film then together. I was quite thoughtful after it and out of words...again something special from the Caucescu area like the 4 months, 3 weeks, 2 days film I had seen during the winter. I'm becoming a fan of Roumanian films I guess
After the cinema I went to meet "Him" as he said he was missing me and well, I missed him too during the trip

Monday's Lykke Li & El Perro del Mar concert was canceled so I took back the tickets and bought a new one to Thursday's Anna Järvinen concert. It was a good choice, I really enjoyed it! Later, while searching on google for info about her, I found out she is coming to Ruisrock also, jeeeh Although I work during the summer on week-days, I will be able to go on the week-end to this festival. Lots of bands whom I like will play there, including Interpol, The National, Scandinavian Music Group, Disco Ensemble, HIM, Kent and of course the above mentioned Anna Järvinen. I can't wait for the summer!

On Thursday before the gig I was also singing in my choir and again it refreshed my mind so well!

Then I've been training for the show jumping competitions, and the horses've been good which is very promising! My last week-end was pretty much spent at the stable, although on Sunday afternoon I had time to tidy my flat and make a dinner to "Him". It was one of the nicest evenings I've had for a long time!

Today, it's Monday and I´m working. I will visit a friend and my grandma later but now I continue with my sfuff in the office.

Have a nice week everyone!

2008-04-1 - A bit busy...
The last 2 days rushed away so fast...

On Monday I went to work to the office, and in the afternoon to the university to attend my courses. I'm so glad to have this new course: European Common Foreign and Security Policy, it's very intresting and important these days...

By the way check this out: It's a great animation, I wish I had this idea...I hope it also makes you think how sensless wars are!

fr.youtube.com/watch?v=e-yldqNkGfo

Then after the courses I went to by some concert tickets to Tiketti. Ooh Lykke Li's gig is gonna be great next Monday

Then I took the train back home, and made this picture out from the window cause the sunset was beautiful once again:

After getting home I made some dinner and ate with my flatmate, and we chatted a lot, as always. It's a great pleasure to have a flatmate who is at the same time your dearest friend!

Then before getting a good sleep (I slept normally now, from about 1 am till 9am, so 8 hours. This shows that the jet leg is over, hurray ) I translated some stuff up here. Online work really fits me, it gives you a freedom how to use your time!

On Tuesday I went to the tee night to discuss the trip to Tartu, so now I know what the plan exactly is. I really wait for Friday.

And then while walking home again I met a very intesting person, who was actualy looking for a pharmacie (got injured shortly while snowboarding) and asked for instructions. But since it was around 10 pm I told him, that the only pharmacie that is open 24/7 is in the downtown. I could really tell he had some serious pain, so I asked what kind of medicine he'd need. Just some painkiller he said. He was with a bike, and that was lucky cause I'm sure he'd have been unable to walk...

So finaly it turned out, he is living at the same suburb as I do, so we walked (well he rode) home and I gave him some of my painkillers. It felt good to help someone

And now it's already Wednesday and I go and get some sleep...Good night!

2008-03-31 - A new week starts
It's quite early on Monday morning, and I just quickly sum up the nice weekend I had:

I wasn't ready at all with the food on Saturday when some of my friends were already ringing my doorbell, but then actually it turned out to be okay: doing the stuff together. And anyway, we weren't in a hurry

While the others made the salad, I made the Hungarian pörkölt: an original one with the pork meat and then another whit soy for the vegetarians. We had so much fun, cooking, talking, listening to music...I even forgot to make any pics, so I made some when I got back home from the bar called Belly where we went to dance after the dinner. So here are the pics of the "left-overs" :D

Note here the vine-bottle, it's a very good Hungarian red vine: Villányi Kékfrankos Cuvée Merlot. You can find it in the Alkos, just a hint: it fits very well all meat-dishes.

Then the well know Magyar vine, which is too sweet to me, so I'm glad we didn't open it.

I got soooo much candies as a present for making the dinner

I got home around 6am, so the newspaper already arrived and  I took it from the mailbox.

So, we went to Belly and danced till the place closed: an hour too early because of the winding of the clock to the summer time.

Then I got on my nightbus -after having a pleasant walk with a fiend from the center to "Sörkka"- and I went till Malmi. Then from Malmi I walked home. It took me some 20 minutes, and it felt soooo nice...raindrops on my face, singing Arcade Fire songs...

2008-03-29 - Saturday night dinner...and fever
I just got back from one of the stables I ride at. I went there yesterday after riding at the other stable and after my courses at the university. As I got there, one of my friends told me that unfortunatelly the horse whom with I was supposed to compete with next week got injured on his leg while being in the paddock! That is sooo unlucky!

But I've got this quality named optimism So I mourned just for a while, and then thought: Maybe it's better this way, 'cause then I can go to Estonia, to Tartu on the day when the competition would have been! My friend who is from Tartu invited me to join her on a trip to Tartu (organised by my "Hämäläis Osakunta" which is a kind of university student community) from Fri-Sun next week. Ohh it's gonna be much fun

Now I really should start cooking...

And here some pics of me riding yesterday (this is not the horse that got injured. I train this one to become a theraphy horse.)

2008-03-28 - No sleeping at all for tonight...
Gee, I'm still editing stuff up here...photos, forums, info :D!
I just won't sleep tonight (or actually it's already the morning) then, 'cause I should get up anyway at 6:30. I'm going to the stable to  ride a horse before my courses start at the Uni

Ohh I just love that, it's in my veins. The riding I mean. The whole family of my father has always dealt with horses.  I grew up at our farm with horses and Labrador Retriver-dogs around me

So it's not a surprise that even now I still ride for a hobby, and compete sometimes. Actually right now I'm training for a show jumping competition that will come up in 2 weeks!

Hm, it's almost 6 am, I think I'll have my breakfast then :D! Anyway I will have 1 hour to sleep on the bus on my way to the stable, so it's not that bad. I just wonder do people feel like this a lot after having a jet leg? Wierd...but I'm getting used to it

Keep it up everyone, have a nice day

Cheers, Anna

2008-03-28 - Glad to be here on XIHA
Here it comes: my first blog entry EVER!!!

Quite unbelievable I know...and still, I just never felt like writing a blog to any webpage. But this one, wow I'm so amazed. I enjoy being here sooo much

I just got home from a concert around 2 am and realized I won't be able to sleep, again! Don't get me wrong, I'm not a constant insomniac It's all the jet leg's fault I got after getting back from Florida to Finland. Although I wonder, why I didn't get jet legged when I went there 2 weeks ago. Maybe traveling to the West is easier. Anyway it's a 7 -hour-timechange, so that's big enough to make your daily routines go nuts! Anyone else having the same experience? Just tell me!

Well, I was at the point of getting home in my story. After realizing I'm still really wide awake, I opened my laptop to check my mails and do some work for the university-courses. And as I read through my uni-mailbox a forwarded message catched my eyes: Translation jobs available...hm, I thought, what could it be, I should check on it for sure! I have translated a lot even from the age of 12, when some Finnish orchestras came to Hungary to give concerts. At the time I was playing the piano at the local Music Conservatoire, and as everyone knew I was bilingual (Finnish-Hungarian) the rector of the school asked me if I could help them by translating a little. Well, shortly they noticed that despite my young age I can handle the role of a simultanious interpreter and translator very easily (personaly, I didn't have any doubts on my skills at all from the begining 'cause we've been always talking on both languages at home, I had spent a lot of time in both countries-Hungary and Finland-so I was fluent and natural at both!) so from helping a little by translating at the housing and dinners and so on, I "graded up" to translate at all the concerts, tv-inteviews etc. It was just so much fun and so easy for me! I enjoyed myself so much Since then, I have kept up with doing this, and I've added some more languages "into the business" such as English and French. I just love languages, can't help it :D!

Thus, translating has always stayed being a hobby for me. I'm always happy to translate and organize things especially at cultural events (like the Hungarian Cultural Weeks in Helsinki which ended quite lately) when I get a request. And so far I have always done it only on "charity" base, so just for fun!

Well, by now you might have an idea why I got so interested on that email on translation jobs I thought to myself: now I could also earn with my skills! We will see what will happen, I will send my application to this XIHA-translation-jobs person after completing this blog entry!

I just kind of got stuck here: because one of the conditions to apply for the job was to register yourself up her. Note: ohh I forget to tell that I'd like to help to improve the "Hungarian-side" of XIHA or the Finnish, or both actually if there is need for it But the Hungarian is now the "weekest link" for sure, I've noticed that while checking out what kind of page this really is.

After the registration I got so excited to fill out my profile, that I apperantly got stuck here :D! But it's nice to give a good start to the whole thing at once, and then it's nicer to come and update it!

I especially love the photographic part! What a nice way to share pics with people from all over the world, and then talk about them and share experiences! I'm sure I'm gonna be a very eager XIHA-user, and ooh how nice it would be if I would even get a job to translate stuff related to it! All of you reading this blog cross your fingers for me

Well, I think I'd better cut it off now :D!

Not a bad first blog entry ever, right?

Just keep up reading, and contact me if you feel like doing so!

Cheers to all, Anna
