You know how everyone always says when they become rich they will want to buy their own island. Well, now that type of opportunity is on offer to the wealthiest of the world in Dubai!

The World Islands are a collection of man-made islands shaped into the continents of the world, located off the coast of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. It will consist of 300 small private artificial islands divided into four categories - private homes, estate homes, dream resorts, and community islands. Each island will range from 250 to 900 thousand square feet in size, with couple hundred feet of water between each island. It will cover a total area of 5.4 miles in length and 3.6 miles in width, surrounded by an oval shaped breakwater. The only means of transportation between the islands will be by marine or air transport.

The World Islands will be located 4 kilometers off the shore of Jumeirah, close to the Palm Jumeirah, between Burj Al Arab and Port Rashid. Each island will be sold to selected private developers and are expected to have pricing beginning at about $7 million USD, for the $1.8 billion project. Individuals who have purchased islands in The World Islands include Sir Richard Branson of Virgin fame and golfer Vijay Singh. Just this past weekend a private island was presented to Michael Schumacher as a farewell gift for his glamorous Formula 1 career!

From the catalog: The footprints in the sand belong only to your and your family. Daytime naps in your hammock are accompanied by the soothing sound of the Arabian Gulf. Here in your private island, life is very different.

Man, book me up for one damnit! What more proof do I need? smiley
