1. saphire | 2008-07-17 | English HOT topic
I ask the first question, the person who first gives the correct answer goes next.

It's a country in europe, next to Turkey.

next clue tomorrow.
2. saphire | 2008-07-17 | English

The country has 4.3 million people.

Next clue tomorrow.
3. Jani | 2008-07-17 | English
Erm... the flag you copied says "Flag of Georgia" if you take mouse over it... is that a hint? smiley
4. saphire | 2008-07-17 | English

hahahasmileyI am so stupid!!!!
5. saphire | 2008-07-17 | English

that was a big hint!, so go on Jani, give us the next country...with smaler hints maybe....
6. Jani | 2008-07-19 | English
Ok then... let's see. It's actually not easy to give hints as almost anything can be typed to Google for a quick answer. Well let's say this: over the past month, this country has been number 3 in terms of number of visitors to XIHA. So, what could be the third biggest country in XIHA recently..? That's something you won't easily find from Google (though, in fact... even that kind of information can be found!)

It should actually be fairly easy to guess if you use the site regularly and see the which language comments get posted often...
7. fargo | 2008-07-19 | English
hmm....Finland? smiley
8. Jani | 2008-07-19 | English
Nope, Finland is number 6. Keep guessing! In fact, you wouldn't even see most of the messages in languages you don't speak, so this might not be so simple after all. I will give another hint tomorrow if needed.
9. Ricky | 2008-07-19 | English
my guess is either Argentina or Brazil

you tell me... smiley
10. Jani | 2008-07-19 | English
Good guesses Ricky, you almost got it. Brazil is number 2 (Argentina is not in top 10). I must say though (another hint!), geographically your guess was very far off.
11. Silvia | 2008-07-20 | English
Is it Turkey? Just a wild guess...
12. Silvia | 2008-07-20 | English
Is it Turkey? Just a wild guess...
13. Jani | 2008-07-20 | English
Great Silvia, it is Turkey indeed! How did you guess? smiley The top 5 is China, Brazil, Turkey, USA and France... but none is really above the others, they're all pretty close to each other.

Your turn, then! smiley
14. Silvia | 2008-07-20 | English
Wow! I just took a look at the flags of people who were online, and Turkey was one of them, so I decided to guess... how lucky!! I never would have guesses Brazil is second.. I haven´t met many brazilians here yet...

Next clue:

This country is famous for its cod fish. It has a population of 10.676.910 people. Here´s a picture taken at its capital:
15. Ragna | 2008-07-20 | English
I guess it's Italy. It lookes like something you find in Rome.
16. saphire | 2008-07-20 | English
I think there are more people in Italy, I tried to read what it sais on the building, but couldn't.
My guess is that it is Greece !
17. Webmaster | 2008-07-20 | English

smileyClick on the photo to see a bigger version. smiley
18. saphire | 2008-07-20 | English
I did, still couldn't read it, can you?
19. Jani | 2008-07-20 | English
Ah, but yes it indeed contains the key to the puzzle. smiley

(I think your browser might limit the size of the picture to the size of your window, so it still shows scaled down...)

It says:

Virtutibus Majorum
ut sit omnibus documento P.P.D.

This is a fairly easy thing to Google from now on... so I know the answer now but I am not sure if Googling was allowed? smiley
20. saphire | 2008-07-20 | English

I have a laptop so the screen is small, and not so clean :p
Plus that there is no light in the room and dark outside, could be that or I am getting blind...
Thanks for reading it for me Jani. smiley
In my opinion googling is half-cheating and takes away all the fun with guessing and people actually knowing different things, in others googling things are the fun in the quiz, they say better learning than knowing.. so do as you like.
21. Ragna | 2008-07-21 | English
Lisabon Portugal thank you Jani.
22. saphire | 2008-07-22 | English

is it??
23. Jani | 2008-07-22 | English
Hmm... Silvia is almost ready to deliver a baby so I guess if she doesn't show up we can assume she has better things to do. And yes, it's Lisbon in Portugal. You can go to Google and search for images of "Arco do Triunfo, Lisbon" to confirm this... smiley
24. Silvia | 2008-07-22 | English
Sorry I disappeared for a while... It is Lisbon, Portugal. This picture was taken at "Praça do Comércio". Really beautiful place.

I guess it´s Ragna´s turn now...
25. Ragna | 2008-07-23 | English

28. Silvia | 2008-07-23 | English
It could also be Brazil...
29. saphire | 2008-07-23 | English

I guess Iraq, it changes all the time :p

I have a friend from Iraq she told me that they are changing the flag very often, like the txt or symbols on it...so that's my guess..

34. Lauretta Ivy | 2008-07-24 | English

35. Silvia | 2008-07-24 | English
You have to wait for Jani to give a clue...
36. saphire | 2008-07-25 | English

smiley
37. Ragna | 2008-07-25 | English
I saw that the flagg did not show. I changed the file and here it is now.

smiley
42. Jani | 2008-07-27 | English
Ok, well this is probably very easy for some of you... but at least this can not be googled by copy-pasting my question, hehe. smiley

Which country?
43. amanda | 2008-07-28 | English
new zealand??
44. saphire | 2008-07-28 | English

what is that ??

Thanks for making it difficult for us Jani smiley
That's the point !!
45. Ragna | 2008-07-28 | English
Argentina?????
46. Jani | 2008-07-28 | English
Neither of those countries. This is just a sign along a highway. It is quite typical at least in the south/west parts of this country so anyone who's been driving there would have seen this. Hint: the picture in the sign can give you the answer if you look at it carefully. I'll give more hints later if there are no correct answers.
47. Princesė Rožė | 2008-07-28 | English
Danmark?
48. Jani | 2008-07-28 | English
Nope...
49. meilin | 2008-07-28 | English

50. Ragna | 2008-07-28 | English

51. Jani | 2008-07-28 | English
Interesting... I was so sure this would be an easy one. A guy looking like that with a guitar and all, doesn't looking German or Dane to me. That's a hint... smiley
52. Jani | 2008-07-28 | English
Ha! It's Spain, you got it Ragna! You answered while I was typing my hint... smiley

Looks pretty Spanish, right?
53. meilin | 2008-07-28 | English
