William Peter Blatty's "The Exorcist" was one of the scariest Books I ever read. It is much more scary than the Movie because in the Movie you miss a lot of Details that he describes very realistic in the Book.
A pleasure to read when you like scary Bookssmiley

Well the most scariest book I read latyer became one of my favourits. I was 12 and we had manged to escape from east Germany to West. In the afternoon after school I was at a children place because my mother worked so I had to go there. There I read a book Mio in the land of Fareawy. It is a wonderfull book but the story tells about the god and eval in black and white. I was so afraid, but had to read it of course other wise it would be there unfullfilled. But in the end I looked who was the writer and I said I never read a book of hers. It last untill Pippi Longstocking came in the movies.

Lately I read harry Potter because I worked in the schools library. But I don't like them They scare me. It is not black and white they are to bluery and very satanic. Since I dont work in the library any more I do not read them. So I don't how it endet. smiley

hello ragna.
i'm very surprised of your comment about harry potter.
what do you find scarying in these books ?
7. Ragna | 2008-07-23 | English
He is always in this datkness with the satanic powers arraond. Woldemar is satan in the books. And he just get stronger and darker. I could never write such histories without going grazy.
Reading those books you have to do it almost in one strike to get out of this darkness. smiley

My goodness. Jurassic Park 1 or 2, definitely. *_* But Stephen King can surely chill my spine!

Sorry, Stephen, but Michael Creighton surely took the cake. <3

I agree with Lauretta. Stephen King wins hands down. The Shining totally freaked me out!

I love The Phantom of the Opera too, always have, always will, but I think this is one of the rare occasions where I preferred certain film versions to that of the book. Leroux definitely had an idea there somewhere, but I think it got lost when he went for the all-out gross-out. I personally preferred Erik as the lonely, sensitive anti-hero, doomed by his love for Christine, rather than as just a straight-out psycho. Numerous versions depict the story in various ways, but my favourite is the 1989 version with Charles Dance as the Phantom. I dunno, Daryll, check it out and see what you think. Hope you like it.
