THIS is a really good topic!! great idea! Thanks Ricky! I guess through this we can know more about each other. what type of movie u cry for can kind of feel what type of person u are... so u are really smart guy.. high EQ.. I watched 3 times TITANIC in once cried everytime... and that's also the reason I choosed this name later to be my english name... It's really old movie, the feeling for that movie is not so strong anymore, but still....It was a hit!
Hi Britney, I saw the third FREE WILLY last week. Before i never really wanted to see it in the cinema or to buy it... thaught it would be a little childish but I couldn't be more wrong, hehe... I changed my mind after seeing this one... so i need to go now and buy the others one....
There were some movies that made me very soft, i can think of two movies that made me actually cry... but long time ago... difficult to remember the titels.... the most depressive one i saw was "on the beach" (not The beach with Leonardo , It's a remake of a movie from the sixties with Gregory Peck.
On the Beach is based on the mid-20th century novel of the same name by Neville Shute, and offers a more elaborate and engrossing treatment of its subject than the original classic film (1959) starring Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner and Fred Astaire. This Showtime original is an hour longer than its predecessor, and will likely bore some of the more impatient members of its audience. Unlike most contemporary sci-fi, this is no action film, but a sombre, depressing, examination of the self-destruction of the human race through nuclear war.
Never over-the-top, alarmist, or politically biased, On the Beach simply presents the stark reality of its premise, and uses finely developed characters to give context, shape and meaning, to the experience. the cast is easily equal to its predecessor, with Armand Assante and Rachel Ward particularly illuminating their roles.
Assante plays an American nuclear submarine commander who has outrun the nuclear fall out and managed to surface near Australia, as that continent prepares to experience the first effects of the radiation now permeating earth's atmosphere. All around, people are preparing to die. The most sought after commodity is a do-it-yourself family suicide kit. Immediately enlisted by the Australian government to carry out a top-secret mission to investigate an IP signal coming from Anchorage Alaska, Assante is assigned an Australian military liaison (Grant Bowler) and a scientist (Bryan Brown) and asked to turn his boat around in search of humanity's last hope. In his few days on land before this fateful journey, Assante befriends his liaison's family, developing a special affinity for his sister-in-law, the playful Rachel Ward.
Why does this film work so well? The cinematography is good, but not excellent. The direction is excellent and the cast is exceptionally good. But more than anything else, On the Beach makes its point because the script and story are deeply humanized by the complex and bold characterizations. The characters have interesting back-stories and deal with their harrowing predicament in very different ways. You not only feel as if you know these people, but you like them and sympathize with them - even the more despicable characters.
This is a great piece of classic science fiction, recommended to all, but those with a limited attention span should opt for the 1959 version instead.
Did anyone see GATTACA? I bawled my eyes out when he incinerated himself. I think that when something touches close to someones own life or something related to it it makes you want to cry.
I would have to say what movie touched me the most, was a walk to remember! a great movie about love and romance! It any of you haven't seen it! I highly recommend you watch it!
This is really stupid, but the first time I saw The Princess Bride, I cried. I don't know why, but I did. It's not even a sad movie. It's quite funny actually, but I cried. Call me stupid.
OMGGG THE GIRL NEXT DOOR IS THE BEST FILM EVER!!! I LOVE IT EXCEPT IT STARTS TO GET ABIT SILLY WHERE HE HAS TO ROB THE WILLY STATUE BUT NEWAYS...........THE LIMO SCENE NEAR THE END IS THE BEST MIXED IN WITH DAVID HREYS 'THIS YEARS LOVE' IS THE BEST IT GAVE ME LITTLE GOOSE BUMPS ON MY ARMS I WOULD LOVE THAT TO HAPPEN TO ME EXCEPT FOR THE PORN STAR BIT LIKE THE SADDEST FILM HAS TO BE EITHER ARMAGGEDON OR MEET JOE BLACK BOTH TEAR JEARKERS
Today I just saw the new movie "Happy Feet", It made me cry!!
it's a computer animation movie, IN CHINA these type of movie ( animation or cartoon ) usually for kids watch, but seems these days western making really good these type of "kids" movies, even we feel so touched. A really brave little guy......
BTW: It has lots of singing and dancing, makes REALLY REALLY good feeling! So it's not only cry also LOTS of happiness!! and exiting!!!
Since Ricky you so much like dance, music and movies, maybe you should try it!!
hi, lorena, what is "cure" is that the name of the movie? that just remind me a realy good movie. called "original SIN" it's by Angelina Jolie and Antonio Banderas, really touched story...
usually the only reason I cry at movies is because I wasted my money seeing something terrible. I wish that we could get our money back for terrible movies such as Uptown Girls (TERRIBLE!!!) and the such. But oh well.
One of the movies that made me cry was...you might laugh at me for this... Spirited Away by Hayao Miyazaki. The part that made me cry the most was almost at the end, where Chihiro went away from Haku.
Titanic made me cry The Princess Bride is one of my favourite movies ever! I don't think I've ever cried after watchin it though Spirited Away? I think I cried from that, Phantom of the Opera (poor phantom; I wish I knew his name) and The Notebook get me every time you know, it's the music most of the time, if movies didn't have music... that would SUCK and they wouldn't be nearly as emotional Also, Cyrano de Bergerac almost made me cry It was so poetic!
I´d have to go with Titanic!! I cried so much my shirt got wet... I also cried watching Gattaca!! OMG!! I´d forgotten about this film! It is sooo good!! But one that made me cry, not because it´s sad, but because it´s so beautiful, was "Love Actually"... Has anyone watched it?
Oh, Bridge to Tarabithia was probably one of the saddest movies I have ever seen. One to rival Titanic It's about this boy, Jess, who meets this girl, Leslie, who moves in next to them and they have this imaginary world called Terabithia, where they are the queen and king and then... I don't want to ruin the movie! It's so good but soo sad
OMG I have an entire list... Click made me bawl Titanic is sooo sad and i love it and i've watched it at least 10 times and i cry every time... Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a nice light movie yet i still cried The Notebook And YES I love Love Actually...it is amazing and my favorite actor is in it ... Alan Rickman hmmm my god i'm crying just thinking about these movies I loved Phantom of the Opera, although I didn't cry during the movie...i did in the broadway show
However, my personal tear-jerker HAS to be Crash. There are so many emotional scenes in that movie, especially the actual car crash where the police officer saves the woman he raped from before.
A newer movie that made me cry, especially at the end, was The Memory Keeper's Daughter. I loooved the book and the movie premiered on lifetime...this is one of the few times that the movie really did do the book justice
Graveyard of the Fireflies made me cry until the end of the day.. I think it's ideal for couples who want to watch a great tearjerker movie together. I watched it alone so...
titanic makes me always cry, even when i hear the song of celine dyon my heart will be on forever are the tears in my eyes. It's a amasing beautifull story..
hi ricky, good topic, but is it just guys? cause too many girls answered..lolmee, i cry even in terror movies, wich(don't know if it's well written) re my favorite movies! i remember the one that made me cry the most, don't remember the name, but it was with girl that qas rapped- a black girl- and the father found the girl and killed the guilty one. then there was the trial...yes i know i'm too confused language...sorry
Hi ricky. this is a very good topic. thanks for this great idea. a lot of films made me cry. ) I have an entire list. Maybe i am easily moved...
I watched TITANIC millions times and i cried at each of them... It was a hit ! And when Leo dies it's so sad... i cannot see this scene without jerking tears. Why, oh why he died ??? I've also been touched by KING LION. I' ve seen when i was 13. when Mufasa dies i felt like it was my father, and i cried until my shirt got completely wet.... Although it's an old movie, it's still in my heart... I cried alot for the poor Simba. Also, GATTACA made me cry. This film describes a society you could easily assimilate to ours, where if you're considered as a "naturally-born loser this label pursue you... When the hero burnt himself, i bawled my eyes. In the same mood, THE BICENTENARY MAN with Robbie Williams... BOYS DON'T CRY: the poor Brandon-Tina...I cried alot for her/him... She is a good girl who just want to live the life she has choosen... And people and life are so unfair for her... when something touches close to someone's own life or something related to it, it makes you want to cry. Also, CYRANO DE BERGERAC almost made me cry. It was really poetic and, when Cyrano dies and it's at this time that Roxanne understand that he was the genuine author of the letters, I'm so angry... Did anyone see SECONDHAND LIONS ? It's a good movie. I also remember a film whose I don't know the english title. In French it was "LE DROIT DE TUER". It tells about a (black) man who killed (white) people who raped his daughter, in the segregation context. He seemed to be condemned without any hope, but his lawyer succeed to save him. I think it's this movie that Dhani described. Idem, "THE PURPLE COLOUR" and "ROOTS" adapted from the Alex Haley's book are among my favourite movies ever! KING KONG (the remake) I've never seen the original version, but I liked the later.
