Is there anyone out there who has found their true love trough internet and maybe even from another country? If how did the things work out?smiley

Yes, in fact last week I married a girl I met online two years ago. I was living in Las Vegas in the US and actually I wanted to find someone in my local area. I like Asian girls so I was specifically looking for Asians. I should know Asia is the place to find Asian girls, but I was still thinking of my local area only. However, thanks to the global nature of internet, I happened to start talking to a lovely girl who lived in China, half a world away. At first I didn't think anything could happen between us because of the distance but since I really enjoyed talking to her I finally decided to fly to China to meet her. I also felt China is a good place to start a business as it's a growing country so at the time I went to China for the first time I was in the mindset that I could even move there. And now, two years later, we just married in Beijing.

This haven't been totally smooth of course. China is very family oriented country and it is a problem that I can't communicate with my parents in law without someone translating. Also living here isn't always joy, as it's hard to find anyone who speaks any English at all. My Chinese is improving but still pretty poor... but despite of this I am very happy I made the crazy decision to come over here.

Actually I guess I should also mention the girl I married is the same girl with whom I co-founded XIHA Life last summer. The main reason we started this website is because we found each other online and we want to offer everyone the same chance. We met on a pay for use website, but we felt this type of opportunity shouldn't be available in exchange for cash. It's better to build a community of people who are interested in other cultures and want to make friends from around the world, and keep it free!

So if you're interested in finding someone from another country over the internet - go for it! I am telling you it is possible, and once you find your true love it's also well worth the extra trouble, culture shock, countless hours of traveling, etc...

Maybe it's just me but things don't always work out. Sorry to bring down the mood but it's not always a success story and I think it's best to keep that in mind.smiley

True, but isn't this the case in "real world" too? Internet or not, things don't always work out. Actually things probably fail to work out most of the time. It's not easy to find the perfect match. Sometimes it's best to be naive, forget about all the past experiences and just go for it blind, taking the risk! smiley

I agree that it's the case in the real world as well, but my point is not to get one's hopes built up too high because the possibility of failure is always present. The way this thread was going was portraying online dating as some sort of land of milk and honey which it is not. I was just bringing an aspect of realism into the conversation.

"The hardest part is not in never falling but in rising every time you fall." It takes a very strong person to keep getting back up I think.

It's almost completely impossible to forget ones past experiences especially negative ones (Unless you develop a mental disorder). It is impossible on not only an individual level but also on a social, cultural and historic level. I don't think even if it was possible that it would be a good idea because, if you do that sort of thing then you might end up making the same mistakes over and over.
It has often been said that repeating the same action (with a known outcome) multiple times expecting to see a different result is a sign of madness. I also think it shows no personal growth. People should learn from their mistakes and the mistakes of others.
That said however it is unfair to close oneself off from possible positive future experiences just because of a negative event in one's past.

Logic says that its a fact.
Logic dictates that love can be found anywhere.

Too bad logic takes a summer break, the second one falls in love huh? smiley

the love story of jani and wen is true. it depends on how you behave in this cyber world. for some people, it is virtual, but it is real for others. For me, there is no different in real world and this cyber world.

I found someone i had stayed with for 3 months, we weren't suited. But I don't regret meeting him.

Yes you can find true love on the internet. It's a way of meeting people really, the rest depends on the way each party acts.

There are also sad stories, of people who act less then expected. But then again if you meet someone on the street how are you so sure they aren't gonna act exactly like the person you met online.

I haven't found my true love. I've stopped looking for it. All I can say is take chance is all anyone can do in the end, and don't regret anything you ever do.

I found true love online.

Then my heart was broken.

We made passionate love online almost every night. For six months.

We saw each other once a month.  All night estascy!

It was exhiliarating.

But, then, I found out about the cheating.

How can you cheat in a internet relationship?

Truth be told: it is more likely to happen on the internet than elsewhere.

My heart is permanently damaged now.

I wish I had never started online with that horrible person who broke my heart.

I believe that there is something like internet love, but be careful all people aren't what they seem to be. It's quite easy to pretend being somone else.

I admire your curage Jani, for going so far to met your wife-to-be ;-)
I dream about doing that but not with a loved one just a dear friend that I have known for ages. I guess I am building up my curage to do that....but I am sure that someday somehow we will meet. Sometimes things are ment to happen...
